Tweed's Tavern
This historic building was built around 1790 and was one of the local taverns in the area, providing an essential service to early travelers who needed not only a place to sleep overnight, but also a warm meal. It was moved and rebuilt with historic accuracy in partnership with DelDOT and Preservation Delaware in the year 1999 and was the reason for creating the Hockessin Historical Society. It provides a small meeting room and also a detailed kitchen with stove and parlor with period furnishings for tour groups to see and learn about the lifestyle of early settlers and travelers.
